York is just a great city break
The Shambles is like nothing I've seen before - those old leaning buildings are so cool. Easy to walk everywhere and the food scene is way better than I expected for a smaller city. Really enjoyed it.
History everywhere you look
York Minster is absolutely stunning, inside and out. The whole city feels like you're walking through a history book but without it feeling like a museum. Lots of good cafes and pubs tucked down little streets too. Loved the whole place.
Such a unique place to visit
Never been anywhere quite like York. The old Roman walls you can actually walk along are brilliant - great views over the rooftops. Not too crowded in winter either which made the whole thing more enjoyable. Highly recommend going.
Perfect little city for a weekend
York is very walkable and compact which I really liked. Spent time around the Shambles area and the streets nearby - so much character. The Yorkshire puddings we had were seriously good. Friendly locals too, everyone was happy to point you in the right direction.
Great Christmas market experience
The York Christmas market around St Nicholas Fair was brilliant - loads of stalls, mulled wine, local gifts. The city looks amazing all lit up in December. It gets busy but it's worth it. One of the better Christmas markets I've been to in the UK for sure.
Loved every bit of York
We came for a short break and York totally delivered. The Minster is jaw-dropping and the little independent shops around the Shambles are really fun to browse. Good pub options too - proper cosy ones with real ales. Solid city break all round.
